In this paper, the author made an attempt to compare phraseological potential of Russian and Chinese lexemes, so as to check the frequency of a lexeme within the phraseological unit. On the basis of data generalization, lexical analysis of the phrasemes elements (an internal form of a phraseological unit) the author identified the national specificity of the considered phraseological units. The list of most frequent basic lexemes observed in the two languages illustrates the way of living of Russians and the Chinese.
