open seminars of the Faculty of Computer Science were held in April and May in eight cities across Russia and Belarus.
The seminars were led by teachers in the ‘Mathematical Methods of Optimization and Stochastics’ and ‘Data Science’ Master’s programmes.
The seminars were aimed at upper-class undergraduate students, Master’s students, postgraduate students and teachers from various HSE campuses and other universities. The topics were selected in order to demonstrate the most outstanding achievements in the fields of modern mathematics and computer science and included ‘Methods of multi-modal clustering for data mining’, ‘Architecture and platforms of data analysis distribution systems’, ‘High dimensional statistics data’ and ‘The complexity of computation, efficient algorithms and convex optimization’.
The seminar was attended by approximately 300 people. Students also had the opportunity to learn more about HSE’s Master's programmes in mathematics, computer science and software engineering.
The events were held on HSE campuses, branches of the Yandex School of Data Analysis, and other venues in Yekaterinburg, Kaliningrad, Minsk, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Perm and St. Petersburg.
