The book contains 20 papers presented at the Fourth International Conference on Cognitonics - Cognit-2015 (Slovenia, Ljubljana, Jozef Stefan Institute, 12-13 October 2015) as a part of the 18th International Multiconference ‘Information Society’ - IS 2015, organized by the Jožef Stefan Institute. The papers are submitted by 35 researchers from 16 countries of the world: Bulgaria, Belgium, PR China, Croatia, Cyprus, Finland, Germany, Greece, India, Italy, Japan, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, Sweden, United Kingdom .
The first objective of cognitonics (or the science about the human being in the digital world) is to explicate numerous distortions in the perception of the world caused by the information society and globalization. The second, principal objective of cognitonics is to cope with these distortions in different fields by means of elaborating systemic solutions for compensating the negative implications of the kind for the personality and society, in particular, for creating cognitive-cultural preconditions of the harmonic development of the personality in the information society and smart society and for ensuring the successful development of national cultures and national languages.
The papers describe numerous aspects and preconditions of successful personal and professional development of the human being in modern information society transforming into knowledge society (or smart society). In particular, the following problems are considered.
The paper by V. A. Fomichov and O. S. Fomichova (Russia) grounds the necessity of paying much more attention to early development of the human being's ideal constituent. It is important for increasing the proportion and quality of creative class in knowledge society. The paper introduces a significant branch of cognitonics called art cognitonics. Besides, proceeding from the fundamental results of cognitonics, the expedience of creating a new branch of sociology is grounded, this new branch could be called sociology of sublime values dynamics. Its main objective is to be monitoring the evolution of the vector of the personality's ideal constituent.
The paper by O. S. Fomichova, V. A. Fomichov, and S. M. Gordeeva sets forth the approach of cognitonics to achieving cognitive engagement of the adolescents and university students at lessons on art (on the example of a lecture on painting). Besides, this paper describes a new approach to designing a scientific fiction museum interpreted as a museum developing the attitude to a thought as a value. The aim of the paper by A. Christofidou (Cyprus) is to draw the attention of the readers to the medical consequences of spending too much time for interaction with internet. The notion "Internet Addiction Disorder" (IAD) is introduced and the associations between IAD and neurotransmitters dopamin and serotonin are described. It is grounded that arts have a beneficial impact on healthy psychological, emotional and physical equilibrium. The subject of the paper by A. D. Vakaloudi and V. Dagdilelis (Greece) is the role of information and communication technologies in the teaching and learning of history.
