Rogonyan G. Философия и исследования культуры. WP20. Высшая школа экономики, 2014. No. WP20/2014/02.
The aim of this paper is to show how and why the method of radical interpretation, proposed by Donald Davidson, can solve the problems that are formulated in a variety of skeptical scenarios. In particular, the method of radical interpretation deprives Cartesian scenario (both in its traditional and recent versions) all its force and even the status of philosophical problem. Appealing to the difference between intendede and unintended lies one can see how the global skeptical scenario gets solved in both cases. The paper also formulates an argument in favor of expanded version of naturalized epistemology that was offered by W. V. O. Quine - first of all, due to the introduction of social factors. In particualr, there are always at least two necessary limitations imposed by the communication on our hypothesis about knowledge and delusion. In addition, the paper explains the need for a moderate externalism (both perceptual and social) to the variants of Descartes and Hume's skeptical scenario.

Brian Orend, one of the leading just war theorists, is best known today for elaborating jus post bellum principles while his works contain another distinctive component, concept of “minimally just” political community. This article explores Briand Orend’s conception of “minimally just” political community, especially the meaning of this concept for Orend’s version of just war theory. Orend uses Kantian political and moral philosophy in order to prove there are two key functions of state: protection of human rights and establishing order. Since human rights are universal, a state should assist in protection of human rights of every person, not only its citizen’s rights. This leads to situation when states avoid of harming foreigners and aggressive wars become banned. Orend call a state “minimally just” if it follows these rules. However, these states could violate non-intervention principle and start wars. A crucial point here is an idea that a “minimally just” state has a right to fight for the overthrow of the aggressive regimes and establishment of “minimal justice”. The author concludes that this notion helps Orend extend the list of just causes of war, though his original intention was limitation of cases when arms could be used.

In the text works of well-known Italian semiotican Umberto Eco are considered through the prism of contemporary researches in Western esotericism. The idea of the so-called „hermetic semiosis” is explored by Eco in several of his works published after the 1980’s: Limits of Interpretation, Kant e l’ornitorinco, Interpretation and Overinterpretation, Serendipities, Six Walks in the Fictional Woods, etc. But its roots lie in Eco's early writings, directly in his semiotic theory. Eco has his own view regarding the formation of the whole of esotericism, which has expressed in a special perception of esoteric texts. From this perspective, Eco’s works seem to be not only semiotical in their essence, but also touch on the history of religious ideas and on the hermeneutics of heterodox texts.

Period of single sex education in the Soviet school history was short - only 11 years (1943-54). Nevertheless, it has left a significant mark not only in the educational system, but in culture as well. This reform has reflected more general processes, first of all, those which were related to the rethink of the official approach to the cultural, ideological and even political heritage of pre-revolutionary era. It can be expected that the style of soviet “school film” originated exactly in the single sex education period, when problems of education and its organization became to be perceived in the society as ones with independent value and turned out to be a discussion object. These films set a definite stylistic and conceptual ground for picturing of school in general in soviet cinema and literature. And, notwithstanding the fact the school has changed afterwards, authors of subsequent creations in one way or another appealed to the cultural canon of that period.
