On November 21-22, HSE International Laboratory for the Study of Russian and European Intellectual Dialogue organized an international conference ‘Memory As a Historical and Cultural Phenomenon: Russia and the West, XX-XXI Centuries’. HSE News Service has talked with one of the conference speakers, Richard Tempest, Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, about his vision of historical memory and his research of Solzhenitsyn.
The Second Russia-China Education Research Conference – Digital Transformation of Education and Artificial Intelligence – was held last week at HSE University. Researchers from the two countries discussed changes taking place in the national education systems thanks to the digital revolution, as well as what can be borrowed from mutual experiences.
On March 5–9, 2017, the U.S. city of Atlanta, Georgia hosted the 2017 Conference of the Comparative and International Education Society (CIES). Seeking the most diverse engagement in the venue’s multiple opportunities for expertise exchange, debate, and academic networking, a representative team of experts with IOE’s leading research & advisory centres joined this year’s CIES event. On November 22-23, 2016, the 24th Telecommunications Forum (TELFOR 2016) was held in Belgrade, Serbia. The event was organized by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of Serbia, the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications of Serbia, and IEEE Serbia and Montenegro Section.
On October 21 Peter Maassen, Professor in Higher Education Studies in the Faculty of Education at the University of Oslo, gave a presentation at the 7th International Conference held in Moscow by the Russian Association of Higher Education Researchers. Professor Maassen’s presentation was entitled ‘The University’s Governance Paradox’, in which he spoke about the contradiction between the development of university leadership and the realities of exercising control in universities.
Szymon Jankiewicz, Director of the Center for Applied Legal Research, and Nadezhda Knyaginina, Analyst of the Center, took part in an International Conference, ‘Development of Russian Law-IX: Russian Law and Globalization’, held on October 6-7, 2016, at the University of Helsinki.
The 12th Annual International Workshop ‘Intangibles, Intellectual Capital and Extra-Financial Information’ was held at HSE St Petersburg last week. This is an established event that many academics and practitioners in the area of intellectual capital and intangibles know about due to its high credibility. Most of the relevant people in this field have participated in the workshop throughout the years.
