Akkadian Sentences about the Present Time (I)

In this paper I discuss semantic aspects of Old Babylonian (OB) and Old Assyrian (OA) verb morphosyntax, hence the term ‘Akkadian’ as used here covers only these two dialects. My major source is epistolary material, yet literary texts are occasionally drawn upon, because in these texts there appear certain linguistic features important for this study but underrepresented in letters. I had to exclude OB Mari letters on the as- sumption that OB might have been a second language for their authors.
