This essay is a survey of studying of oppositional behavior in school. It highlights two episodes that deal with work of two British scholars — Paul Willis and Catriona Kelly. The first episode deals with how oppositional behavior of schoolchildren became an object for studying in terms of resistance in anglo-american sociology of education. The second episode deals with how this British research tradition is echoed in the discussion of everyday life in Soviet school, that took place in the Post-Soviet epoch.
