The International Workshop on Enterprise and Organizational Modeling and Simulation (EOMAS) represents a forum where researchers and practitioners exchange and mutually enrich their views, approaches, and obtain results in the field of enterprise engineering and enterprise architecture. The most valuable asset of every conference and workshop is its community. The community of EOMAS is small, but it consists of founding members, long-term contributors, and every year it attracts new innovative participants. This year, EOMAS reached its 15th edition and took place in Rome, Italy, during June 3–4, 2019. Traditionally, we can offer a balanced assortment of papers addressing formal foundations of enterprise modeling and simulation, conceptual modeling approaches, higher-level insights and applications bringing novel ideas to traditional approaches, as well as new emerging trends. Out of 24 submitted papers, 12 were accepted for publication as full papers and for oral presentation, and each paper was carefully selected, reviewed, and revised. In additional to this we reflected on the interest of last year’s invited workshop on usability and invited the experts to make a sequel. You can find a short report in this issue. This year, we included a novel outlet of Master and Doctoral Consortium, which attracted young talent to present their work. The presented work was then discussed, and feedback, advice, and encouragement was given. We were really surprised by the relevance, methodological quality, and results of their work – you may find their contributions on our website https://eomas-workshop.org. We would like to express our sincere thanks to the entire EOMAS community: the authors, the Program Committee and the CAiSE organizers, the chairs for their enthusiasm and devotion, as well as all participants for their contributions. We look forward to the 16th edition of EOMAS!

Edited by: J. Barjis, R. Pergl, Babkin Eduard. Vol. 231. Springer, 2015.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 11th International Workshop on Enterprise and Organizational Modeling and Simulation, EOMAS 2015, held at CAiSE 2015, in June 2015 in Stockholm, Sweden.

EOMAS was founded with the purpose to become a forum among researchers and practitioners to share their research and practical findings by encouraging the dissemination of research results under a more generic umbrella called enterprise engineering, which encompasses internal factors ranging from organizational complexity to intricacy of business processes and sophistication in workflows as well as external factors and uncertainties such as competition, politics, or the emergence of innovative technologies.

The 15 papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 28 submissions. They were organized in topical sections named: enterprise conceptual modeling and simulation; enterprise modeling formal foundation; and enterprise optimization.

Elahovsky V., Popovskaya E. V. Cheltenham: Edward Elgar Publishing, 2016.

Entrepreneurship and innovation are the main drivers of economic development today. The book explores the two in depth, at both the national and regional levels, using a variety of methodologies. The contributors discuss the subject from a policy perspective, with case studies from a host of countries including new member states of the EU as well as established EU member states and non-EU countries like Russia. Three parts of the book focus on innovation, entrepreneurial activity and regional development, and entrepreneurship and SME policy.

Edited by: A. Chepurenko. Springer, 2017.

This book presents a state-of-the-art portrait of entrepreneurship in the transition economies of Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) as well as Georgia and Ukraine. Based on new empirical evidence, it highlights major trends in, characteristics and forms of entrepreneurship common to countries in transition. The contributions cover topics such as levels of opportunity-based entrepreneurship, incentives for innovation, dominance of large-scale international corporations, the role of family businesses, and opportunities for grass-roots entrepreneurship.

The first part of the book focuses on theoretical considerations regarding the establishment of sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystems and private business. In turn, the second part offers cross-border studies of entrepreneurial environments and activities, while the third and fourth present case studies on the current state and unique characteristics of entrepreneurship in various countries of the CEE and CIS as well as Georgia and Ukraine. Finally, the last parts discuss the role of institutions and policy recommendations.

Since the early 2000s, authoritarianism has risen as an increasingly powerful global phenomenon. This shift has not only social and political implications, but also environmental implications: authoritarian leaders seek to recast the relationship between society and the government in every aspect of public life, including environmental policy. When historians of technology or the environment have investigated the environmental consequences of authoritarian regimes, they have frequently argued that authoritarian regimes have been unable to produce positive environmental results or adjust successfully to global structural change, if they have shown any concern for the environment at all. Put another way, the scholarly consensus holds that authoritarian regimes on both the left and the right generally have demonstrated an anti-environmentalist bias, and when opposed by environmentalist social movements, have succeeded in silencing those voices.

This book explores the theme of environmental politics and authoritarian regimes on both the right and the left. The authors argue that in instances when environmentalist policies offer the possibility of bolstering a country’s domestic (nationalist) appeal or its international prestige, authoritarian regimes can endorse and have endorsed environmental protective measures. The collection of essays analyzes environmentalist initiatives pursued by authoritarian regimes, and provides explanations for both the successes and failures of such regimes, looking at a range of case studies from a number of countries, including Brazil, China, Poland, and Zimbabwe. The volume contributes to the scholarly debate about the social and political preconditions necessary for effective environmental protection.

This book will be of great interest to those studying environmental history and politics, environmental humanities, ecology, and geography.

Ivan Boldyrev. Bloomsbury, 2014.

Ernst Bloch and His Contemporaries is a much needed concise yet comprehensive overview of Ernst Bloch's early and later thought. It fills an important gap in research on the history of German thought in the 20th century by reconstructing the contexts of Bloch's philosophy, while focusing on his contemporaries - Georg Lukács, Walter Benjamin, and Theodor Adorno. Ernst Bloch's influential ideas include his theory of utopian consciousness, his resolute inclination to merge aesthetics and politics, rehabilitation of hope, and atheistic conception of Christianity. Although Bloch's major early texts, Spirit of Utopia and Traces, have recently been translated into English, and there has been renewed interest in Bloch over the last 15 years, he is still relatively unknown compared to other left German-Jewish intellectuals. Ivan Boldyrev places Bloch's often enigmatic prose within contexts more familiar to English-speaking readers, and outlines the most important messages in Bloch's legacy still relevant today to European intellectual discourse, in particular aesthetics and philosophy of history.

Adequate assessment of individual functional motor potentials is important for developing appropriate rehabilitation strategies in ischemic stroke [1]. Microstructural changes in corticospinal tract (CST) and corpus callosum (CC) were repeatedly correlated to post-stroke outcome [2, 3]. However, relationship between them and functional recovery remains unclear. Here we investigated relationship between integrity of CST and CC assessed with diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) and brain functional state assessed with navigated transcranial magnetic stimulation (nTMS) in chronic ischemic supratentorial stroke.

The volume is dedicated to Stephen Smale on the occasion of his 80th birthday. Besides his startling 1960 result of the proof of the Poincaré conjecture for all dimensions greater than or equal to five, Smale’s ground breaking contributions in various fields in Mathematics have marked the second part of the 20th century and beyond. Stephen Smale has done pioneering work in differential topology, global analysis, dynamical systems, nonlinear functional analysis, numerical analysis, theory of computation and machine learning as well as applications in the physical and biological sciences and economics. In sum, Stephen Smale has manifestly broken the barriers among the different fields of mathematics and dispelled some remaining prejudices. He is indeed a universal mathematician. Smale has been honored with several prizes and honorary degrees including, among others, the Fields Medal(1966), The Veblen Prize (1966), the National Medal of Science (1996) and theWolf Prize (2006/2007).
