The second volume of the two-part edition presents the results of the research on trends of political and economic change in several leading European countries (Germany, Great Britain, France, Sweden, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece, and in new members of the EU). National models are characterized, and the influence that globalization and European integration exert on national development are assessed. Special attention is paid to the transformation of political institutions, to public attitudes and identities, to problems encountered by the welfare state and to the mechanisms of coping with the economic recession that have emerged over the past few years.Key issues on the current public agenda–immigration and integration policies, educational reform and energy policies–are also considered.
Processes and trends in the world financial system aroused by the global financial crisis of the 2008 are under consideration.
The textbook gives an all-embracing exposition of the world economic history. The author proposes a new perioization of the history of the world economy on the basis of the methodology of the world-system analysis and the achievements of Russian economic and historical thought. Special attention is paid to the origin of various market institutions, the impact of economic crises on the development of the powers of capitalist world-system core, peripheral countries and Russia. The distinguishing features of Russia's economic development are disclosed in a context of the comparision of the economic evolution of the countries of the East and the West.
The next issue of the Yearbook "Year of the planet" includes articles, analytical reviews devoted to the problems of development of the world economy and modern international relations. The most important events and the main trends of global and regional development are studied, the processes in various sectors of the world economy, the issues of global and national security are analyzed.
