Raman Spectroscopy in the Course of Modern Physics
The article describes the possible application of photonic circuits on a chip to create a Raman spectrometer, which, using new approaches of quantum optics and photonics, allows to obtain exclusive information about the viruses presence. The new type of Raman spectrometer will be a miniature photonic integrated circuit connected to superconducting single-photon detectors. The need to demonstrate to students specific practical applications of modern scientific achievements will contribute to increased motivation of students to study and better comprehending this difficult material. This approach to presentation, according to the authors, is interesting not only for students mastering physics, but also for those studying other natural sciences specialties, for example, biologists and doctors. The authors propose to include this material in a course of lectures on physics for students of natural faculties to familiarize them with the problems of modern science.
