Behinderung im Kulturvergleich. Einstellungen zu Behinderung und Behinderten in Deutschland und Russland
In contemporary societies human dignity of people with disabilities is increasingly questioned by scientific worldviews and economic value perspectives. Their real life is not only dependent on how legal frameworks are formed, but also on the way other members of society respond to them. The author argues that the degree of social integration or exclusion is cross-culturally variable. Comparing the countries Germany and Russia not only reveals different historically grown differences in social attitudes to disability. Moreover, this cross-cultural value research shows the differences in attitudes towards disabled people among German and Russian respondents. Following this, an empirical grounded attempt is made to explain the differences based on cultural factors. The book is aimed at social and cultural scientists and to all who are interested in the social situation of people with disabilities in different societies.
