This paper presents principal elements of Bourdieusian epistemological project and focuses on the idea of objectivation. Review of key features of Bourdieus reflexive sociology is followed by discussion of main criticisms aimed at Bourdieus epistemology. The paper argues that Bourdieus critics fail to do justice to his efforts because they tend to believe that operation of reflexive objectivation is meant to bring about a specific version of objectivity, which is called here panoptical objectivity. By tracing Bourdieus epistemological views back to early writings of his teacher Gaston Bachelard, this paper demonstrates that the main purpose of reflexive sociology is to provide tools for breaking with doxa and producing the cognizing subject. Bourdieus methodological prescription of participant objectivation should be interpreted within this epistemological framework.

Based on material of 25 interviews with Russian volunteers of social organizations of Munich and St. Petersburg shows the similarities and differences in the organizational patterns of German and Russian social volunteering for the following reasons: the institutional context, the procedure for recruitment, registration relations with the organization, the interaction between the roles of volunteers and staff employee, "support" volunteer.

This study analyses the relationship between aggressive behavior of adolescents and their social status among peers. The data was collected in 2013–2014 in four vocational schools of St Petersburg (in total 418 students, mean age 17–18 years old).  For comprehensive study of adolescents environment all second year students were surveyed. It was demonstrated that higher level of aggression is positively related to high social status (popularity) among peers. The main conclusions are as follows: (1) aggression is more prevalent in male groups than in female groups; (2) there is no gender differences in frequency of different forms of bullying (physical, verbal, or both); (3) youth who demonstrate aggressive behavior are more popular among peers; (4) the level of classroom aggressiveness increases popularity of aggressive boys; popularity of aggressive girls does not depend of the level of classroom aggressiveness. Future surveys of “culture of aggression” in adolescent groups are necessary for understanding of universality of our findings and for development of possible preventive methods to deal with teenagers’ aggression.

Leonid Ionin responds to commentaries of critics on his book "Political correctness: a brave new world." He insists that political correctness - this is ideology, strongly associated with the constitutive features of modern mass democracies. However, he disputes some estimates and corrects some false, in his opinion, judgments of critics about his book. In conclusion he clarifies the ideological position he holds in the discussion.
