The paper continues the previous publication in the journal (Vol. 9, No. 45), which was devoted to criticism of the wide-spread approach in the  statistical inferences, so called Null-hypothesis significance testing. In the second part we discuss the necessity of science social organization reformation, and describe some corresponding tendencies in the modern science: (1) equal chance for both significant and insignificant results of a research to be published; (2) pre-registration of the upcoming study design / project; (3) experimental data becomes available in the form suitable for meta-analysis; (4) the emphasis shifting from the single experiment result to the meta-analytical integration of the results.

We test the measurement invariance of Emotional Control Values (ECV) questionnaire by A. Mauss which measures the value of emotional control and self-efficacy of emotional control; the study uses samples from Russia (N=256) and Azerbaijan (N=205). Using multi-group confirmatory factor analysis we developed partial scalar invariance models which allow to compare the latent factor parameters across the two countries. Respondents from Azerbaijan score higher on the value of emotional control and lower on emotional control self-efficacy, compared to respondents from Russia. In Russia males have higher scores on both value and self-efficacy of emotional control, compared to females, but in the Azerbaijani sample no significant gender differences in emotional control were found. We discuss the results based on the existing data on the differences between the two cultures in individualism-collectivism.

We conducted a cross-cultural study of the Dark Triad and Emotional Intelligence for Russian and Azerbaijani samples. After establishing the cross-cultural invariance for Emotional Intelligence questionnaire and Dirty Dozen questionnaire we compared Russian and Azerbaijani samples and found influence of sex, age and belonging to a specific sample (Moscow vs. Baku) and their interactions on Emotional Intelligence, Machiavellianism, Psychopathy, and Narcissism. The hypothesis of the relation between Emotional Intelligence and traits of Dark Triad was rejected for both samples.

Russian researchers polemics on Kants essay On a supposed right to tell lies from benevolent motives in which Kant argues that if a malefactor (a murderer) who is going to kill a persons friend asks that person where ones friend is, the morality requires to tell the truth. It is proved in the paper that though Kantians are usually considered as absolutists and their opponents - as relativists, the Kantians perform a large-scale relativization of maxim of truthfulness and exhibit more conformity to lie than the relativisits do. Paradoxes A Precious Friend and Kants Generalized Consequence for Many Friends showing inconsistency and contradictoriness of Kantians point of view are introduced. The confrontation of absolutists and relativists is interpreted as a fundamental opposition of reductionism and holism followers, with understanding that in this case the opposition is many times strengthened by confrontation of moral values.

Although traditional psychodiagnostics is based on the demand for consistency and stability as a measure of reliability inconsistency and variability in people’s responses and behavior may be of great prognostic importance. The aim of the study is to develop an instrument that allows differentiating inconsistency of self-estimation, estimation of the world and estimation of other people based on estimations of opposite adjectives. On the sample of adults (N = 79) it was shown that this method could be used in diagnostics of two different types of inconsistency (both due to a conciliatory style of responses and related to instability of responses). Positive self-estimation, estimation of the world and estimation of other people is determined by different constructs; and only positive self-estimations correlate significantly with psychological well-being. Inconsistency of self-estimations, estimation of the world and estimation of other people could not be reduced to positivity of these estimations. Inconsistency of self-estimations is related to lesser psychological well-being. Two alternative forms of the method are proposed. Functional, scale and conceptual equivalence of these forms is demonstrated.

Nowadays online social networks (Facebook, VKontake, etc.) are the part of modern life, but they are also the cause of achievement (especially academic) decline. Self-regulation and procrastination are the characteristics that can be defined as personality factors in online social network use. Procrastination is conceptualized as postponing some actions crucial to the timely completion of assignments or as a "voluntarily delay". It is defined as a self-regulatory failure, representative of low conscientiousness, high impulsivity, and thought control problems. There is some evidence of the negative role of procrastination as well as low self-regulation in academic achievements. At the same time relations between procrastination and self-regulation are still unclear. This study analyses personality factors: procrastination and self-regulation as predictors of online social network (OSN) usage intensity and intrusion. The sample consists of 321 users of OSN VKontakte, from 17 to 60 ages. OSN usage assessed by OSN Intensity scale and OSN Intrusion scale. The features of procrastination and self-regulation were also measured. Based on correlation and regression analyses was found that sex and procrastination are significant predictors of OSN intensity and intrusion. Sex differences in OSN usage were clarified. This study shows that women are more tend to use OSN and reveal negative aspects (relation, emotional, work problems) of intensity and intrusion of online social network usage.

Купцова С. В., Иванова М. В., Драгой О. В. и др. Психологические исследования: электронный научный журнал. 2014. № 7(34). С. 4.

Features of focused attention in patients with fluent and non-fluent aphasia were investigated in the study. Attention disorders in patients with aphasia were quantitatively and qualitatively analyzed by making inter-comparison and comparing against the same disorders in healthy individuals. Forty seven patients with different forms of aphasia (aged 24-75) and thirty nine neurologically intact subjects of equivalent age (control group) took part in the study. The subjects were asked to monitor long strings of aurally presented digits and react to specific combination of two numbers. Overall, the number of correct responses was greater and reaction times were shorter in healthy subjects than in subjects with aphasia. The following differences in type of errors and reaction times between participants with fluent and non-fluent aphasia were demonstrated: subjects with fluent aphasia had lower reaction times in case of high-frequency target stimuli presentation, while subjects with non-fluent aphasia demonstrated more correct responses in case of low-frequency target stimuli presentation. Additionally, subjects with non-fluent aphasia made more errors related to omitting when one target stimulus immediately followed another. No linear relationship was found between severity of language impairment and observed focused attention deficits. Thus, the presented study demonstrates the importance of studying attention deficits in patients with aphasia in rehabilitation practice.

The characteristics of self-determination process at different stages of professional development are analyzed. As the indicators of self-determination features we considered value-motivational complex and the type of professional identity. In general, the dynamics of professional development correlates with age, length of work and career development. It is shown that the self-determination processes are nonlinear associated with the stages of professional development: the highest level of intrinsic motivation is observed at the stage of Internal, not a Mentor; the hypothesis of dominance of the reached type of identity at the higher stages of professional development wasn’t confirmed. At the same time, it was found that people in the "Mentor" and "Authority" stages had the status of a pseudoidentity, and at the "Master" stage the status of a diffuse identity, which is inconsistent with the theoretical model and may indicate the negative trends in personal and professional development. The achieved positive identity does not dominate at any stage. Values of assertion are most pronounced at the early stages of professional development; however, their significance is also increased at the stage of "Mentor". The hypothesis of the predominance of the value of professional self-realization in the higher stages of professional development has not been confirmed. The conclusion is made that it is necessary to modify the typology of stages of professional development in accordance with the specifics of professionalization in the modern world, and that it is necessary to study the factors of professional deformation in the late stages of professional development. The results can be used in vocational guidance and career counseling, as well as in the preparation of personnel evaluation programs.

The study aimed to test measurement invariance of the Russian-language EmIn questionnaire (by D. Lyusin) for emotional intelligence assessment in two samples, from Russia (n = 275) and Azerbaijan (n = 275). Exploratory factor analysis on pooled sample revealed a 4-factor structure with dimensions interpreted as understanding of one’s own emotions, management of one’s own emotions, understanding of others’ emotions, management of others’ emotions. Using confirmatory factor analysis, strong factorial invariance (equivalence of factor loadings and intercepts) was established, which allows to compare means scores in two cultures. Russians, compared to the Azerbaijani, report better understanding of one’s own emotions and management of one’s own emotions. Russian males report better management of their own emotions, compared to Russian females (in all age groups). Azerbaijani females report better understanding of others’ emotions, compared to Azerbaijani males (except for the senior age group). The results are interpreted based on existing knowledge of cross-cultural differences between Russian and Azerbaijan in cultural values, such as individualism and masculinity.
