In this paper, we prove a kind of Abelian theorem for a class of stochastic volatility models \((X,V),\) where both the state  process \(X\) and the volatility process \(V\) may have jumps. Our results  relate  the asymptotic behavior of the characteristic function of \(X_{\Delta}\) for some \(\Delta>0\) in a stationary regime to the Blumenthal-Getoor indexes of the  L\'evy processes driving the jumps in \(X\) and \(V\). The results obtained are used to construct consistent estimators for the above Blumenthal-Getoor indexes  based on low-frequency observations of the state process \(X\). We derive the convergence rates for the corresponding estimator and show that these rates can not be improved in general.

It is well known that the Fano scheme of lines on a cubic 4-fold is a symplectic variety. We generalize this fact by constructing a closed p-form with p=2n-4 on the Fano scheme of lines on a (2n-2)-dimensional hypersurface Y of degree n. We provide several definitions of this form - via the Abel-Jacobi map, via Hochschild homology, and via the linkage class, and compute it explicitly for n = 4. In the special case of a Pfaffian hypersurface Y we show that the Fano scheme is birational to a certain moduli space of sheaves on a p-dimensional Calabi--Yau variety X arising naturally in the context of homological projective duality, and that the constructed form is induced by the holomorphic volume form on X. This remains true for a general non Pfaffian hypersurface but the dual Calabi-Yau becomes non commutative.

The spontaneous oscillatory activity in the human brain shows long-range temporal correlations (LRTC) that extend over time scales of seconds to minutes. Previous research has demonstrated aberrant LRTC in depressed patients; however, it is unknown whether the neuronal dynamics normalize after psychological treatment. In this study, we recorded EEG during eyes-closed rest in depressed patients (N = 71) and healthy controls (N = 25), and investigated the temporal dynamics in depressed patients at baseline, and after attending either a brief mindfulness training or a stress reduction training. Compared to the healthy controls, depressed patients showed stronger LRTC in theta oscillations (4–7 Hz) at baseline. Following the psychological interventions both groups of patients demonstrated reduced LRTC in the theta band. The reduction of theta LRTC differed marginally between the groups, and explorative analyses of separate groups revealed noteworthy topographic differences. A positive relationship between the changes in LRTC, and changes in depressive symptoms was observed in the mindfulness group. In summary, our data show that aberrant temporal dynamics of ongoing oscillations in depressive patients are attenuated after treatment, and thus may help uncover the mechanisms with which psychotherapeutic interventions affect the brain.

The paper studies a big city as an independent central place system. For this purpose, the author has developed and tested a methodology for quantitative assessment of central functions based on an inte- grated set of the most important socioeconomic indicators. This methodology helped to prove the possibility of not only measuring the value of central functions in different parts of a big city, but also of determining the affiliation of all the system’s elements with different hierarchical levels or a service area. The study was based on the model of Moscow’s central place system. The study evaluated how the factor of the Russian capital’s considerable territorial expansion has influenced the dynamics of its central place system from 2009 to 2015. We have found that there is a strong interrelation between Moscow’s radial–circular structure and a relatively uniform reduction in the value of central functions with increasing distance from the city center, which is dis- turbed by the largest highways, which concentrate a significantly higher value of the key factor compared with neighboring elements.

The last market crash of 2008-2009 showed that the construction sphere is one of the most fragile subject to the crisis effect. The destructive effect of this crash resulted in substantial decrease in mortgage lending, price index, capital investment, and in growth of the cost level. As the construction industry remains strategically important, the eruption of this sphere, which was facilitated by the crisis, might considerably harm Russian economy as a whole. However, lack of relevant studies leaves the main risk factor of Russian construction firms’ failure unexplored. The purpose of this study is to reveal the key determinants, which cause bankruptcy of Russian construction firms during the crisis period. Moreover, the article provides testing of applicability of accounting-based models to prediction of bankruptcy of these firms. The results show the validity of binary-choice logit and probit specifications with the highest classification accuracy of around 85%. In addition, the liquidity and profitability ratios were defined as superior insolvency factors for four years before a company files for bankruptcy

The problem of the firm bankruptcy prediction was investigated by foreign researchers in the 1930s and it still remains relevant. Since publishing of the major Altman’s work (1968), based on multiple discriminant analysis, this methodological area has been considerably changed. Taking into consideration that new data have appeared in the course of time, companies’ average size has changed and the accounting standards have been changed (Altman (1977)) methods and models should be renewed to be appropriate for the present day situation. The purpose of this investigation is the revealing of factors causing bankruptcy and using models appropriate for prediction bankruptcy in the area of a construction industry during financial crisis. This investigation has been carried out on the basis of logit and probit analysis. The main reasons of bankruptcy revealed in the course of this investigation are the following: • non-optimal capital structure formation • ineffective liquidity management • decrease in assets profitability • decrease in short-term assets turnover The most reliable indicators, which give warning of bankruptcy ahead of others are financial instability and liquidity ratios.

Warm dense matter (WDM) is a state of a substance with a solid-state density and temperature from 1 to 100 eV. Researchers believe that such a state exists in the cores of giant planets. Investigation of WDM is important for some applications, such as surface treatment on the nanometer scale, laser ablation, and the formation of the plasma sources of the X-ray radiation into the inertial synthesis. In this study, the conductivity and the thermal conductivity are calculated based on density functional theory and the Kubo-Greenwood theory. This approach was already used to simulate the transport properties in a broad range of densities and temperatures, and its efficiency has been demonstrated. The conductivity and the thermal conductivity of aluminum and gold are investigated. Both the isothermal state, when the electron temperature equals the ion temperature, and the two-temperature state, when the electron temperature exceeds the ion temperature, are considered. The calculations were performed for a solid body and liquid in the range of electron temperatures from 0 to 6 eV.

Роман Всеволода Кочетова (1912–1973) “Чего же ты хочешь?” (1969) был воспринят в СССР и на Западе как манифест крайне правых, неосталинистских сил. Этот опус был развернутым памфлетом на “либеральных шестидесятников” — поэтов и прозаиков, которые, при достаточно конформистском публичном поведении, стремились сделать советский режим и советскую литературу более демократичными и (как они полагали) современными. По сути, Кочетов обвинял в этом романе “либеральных шестидесятников” в том, что они являются невольными агентами Запада. В этой статье показано, что информацию о частной жизни “либеральных шестидесятников” Кочетов брал из неожиданного источника — статьи американской журналистки Патриции Блейк в журнале “Encounter”; для подготовки этой статьи Блейк встречалась со многими “либеральными шестидесятниками” и отдельно — с Кочетовым. Ранее поэт Андрей Вознесенский указал, что Патриция Блейк была прототипом Порции Браун — главной отрицательной героини романа Кочетова. В статье также предлагается уточнить представления о месте “романа с ключом” в советской литературе.
